The History Of The Development Of Qirat
The development of the various Qiraat began when the first revelation to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was received from Allah Almighty, and these revelations continued over a period of 23 years. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) learned the Quran directly from the Angel Gabriel AS and then taught this teaching to his companions. The Quran was revealed to the tribe of Quraysh and in Arabic, but at that time the Muslim community consisted of different tribes with different dialects who had difficulty reading the Quran then Prophet Muhammad Angel Gabriel AS asked him to teach different Qirat so reading and understanding the Quran becomes easy for them.
The word Qiraat was derived from the word “Qiraah( )ﻗﺮاءة ”which means“reading”.

The word Qiraah comes from the word “Qara( ﻗﺮأ )” which means“to read”.Quran Qiraat means reciting/reading the Quranic verse.

The Quranic verse is recited in different Qirat and the differences in Qirat are on the basis of intonation, pronunciation of words, and differences in the vocalization of the words. There are 10 types of Qirat and each of them is named after a famous reciter.
